Hair

Hair

She turns the water on and starts undressing while it gets warm, she hears the drain make a gurgling sound, and makes a face, she hates unclogging it, and she shudders just thinking about getting the hair out.

She goes in and steps into the water, relishing the first few streams on her face, she turns her head down to let the water drench all of her hair and opens her eyes. And she sees that the drain really is clogged, and it’s worse than she’d thought, there’s a great big wad of hair stuck between the slots of the drain cover.

Disgusted she looks around for something to clear it with, so she won’t have to touch it with her bare hands. Even if it just her own hair, the thought of it makes her want to gag.

She sees her razor on the top shelf, and grabs it by the blades, which still have the plastic cover on them, and squats to push the hair into the drain. She wouldn’t want to step on it.

She starts pushing all the hair down a slot using the razor's handle, trying to make it all go down with short movements, goddamned hair is so stuck it takes a little bit more time than she figured, but at least she gets it done without having to touch it.

She stands up and reaches up to the shelf to put the razor back, when she feels something on her ankle, at first she thinks it’s the water, but it feels a little bit more solid than that. She looks down and sees that a strand of hair got twisted around her ankle and exasperated she reaches down to take it off, she pulls on it, careful to touch it only with her nail and just as she’s doing this, she sees something moving on the drain.

Perfect. She’s pulling the wad of hair back… she grabs the strand around her ankle and pulls madly, to break it, and then she puts her hand under the water, rubbing her fingers, disgusted.

She looks back at the drain and sees there’s nothing there.  Finally she can take her shower, she starts turning and then thinks of something, she looks back at the drain cover and squats to look closely at it. Huh… there are three holes on it… holes that should be occupied by screws, screws that serve to keep the cover on it’s place.

She squints, not understanding how or when the screws disappeared, and how come she hadn’t noticed before. She starts reaching towards the cover and just when her fingers brush it, it flies up and strands of her shoot out of it, tangling themselves around her wrist.

She whimpers pulling her hand back, and with it, pulling the wad of hair out the drain. She places her other hand on the floor and uses it to stabilize herself and stand up, and just as she is, more strands of her shoot out of the drain and wrap themselves around her ankles. She stands up so quickly, she hits the hot water tap and boiling water starts streaming down her body, and the shower starts getting foggy.

Moaning she turns towards the door and reaches with her free hand to open it, but the strands around her ankles pull her and her left foot slips, she hits her face with the door, starts turning as she falls, hits her shoulder on the wall, and lands on her right hip with a thump that immediately sends a wave of pain through her whole hip.

Her tears get mixed up with the water, and she can’t see very clearly, but she feels the strands of hair starting to go up her leg, too quick for her to stop them.

Some stay swaddled around her legs, some continue up her belly, but oh god, some are actually inside her, and she can feel them, she can feel them tearing at her from the inside, pushing and pinching.

She opens her mouth to scream but the hair is quicker and it lashes out into her mouth fast as lighting, making her choke on her scream as the hair sticks to the walls of her throat and wraps itself around her tongue. She starts choking, she can’t breathe, she takes hold of the strand that’s lodged itself in her mouth and tries to pull, and when she does, for a moment she focuses on it, and she sees that where her fingers are parting the strands, there’s a bug.

A bug with thousands of hairs coming out of every single part of its body, only it's not hair, it's legs, legs with minusucle pincers on their tips. Millions of legs... and hoy many wads had shot out of the drain?

She starts squishing but just then the pain in her belly becomes unbearable and she whimpers but she’s choking and she can’t breathe, and the water underneath her is turning red. And something starts tickling her ear and then there’s no sound, and the light is going out, and she can’t breathe…

He steps into the shower wearing his sandals, he hates hotel’s baths. Being such a germophobe, the thought of other people’s bare ass sitting where he has to put his feet is more terrifying than the thought of bumping into Norman Bates. Oh, and isn’t that just dandy… a wad of hair on the drain, this day just keeps getting better and better.
