Underneath
Sometimes you hear her giggle, and take it for the fluttering wings of a moth.
Sometimes you think "How odd, for a second there, I thought that shadow moved towards my toe"".
Sometimes you'll wake up to a loud sound and laugh at how your own snores woke you.
And sometimes, in the coldest nights it'll strike you as weird that you dropped your covers to the floor even though now it's freezing cold.
Sometimes you'll hear a breathing echoing your own, but by the time you hold your breath it'll be all but gone.
But when you feel her long rotten fingernails caressing your feet in the night; will you close your eyes and hold your breath? Or will you behold the face of the one that lives under your bed?
